Bronze medalists: Courtney H. (Grade 12), Carley S. (Grade 11), and Grace L. (Grade 9)
The National Classical Etymology Exam (NCEE) is designed to test a student’s ability to understand and apply both Latin and Greek derivatives and their usage in the English language. The 2011-2012 academic year is the second official year in which this exam has been sponsored. This test is based on English vocabulary words that are derived from Latin and Greek, with emphasis on academic and SAT vocabulary words. Of the 50 multiple choice questions, 30 are Latin derivative and 20 are Greek derivative questions of common prefixes, suffixes, verbs, numbers and body parts.
Congratulations, girls, on your outstanding achievement!

NAHS Adopts School Reach Telephone Broadcast System
In our effort to improve communication between parents and school, Nazareth Academy High School is implementing a telephone broadcast system that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolReach, a company specializing in school-to-parent communications.
Nazareth Academy High School will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on our website www.nazarethacademyhs.org and all our local TV and Radio stations and will use this system as an overlay to the public announcements. When used, the service will call all phone numbers in our selected parent contact lists and will deliver a recorded message from a school administrator.
For more information about how this program works, please download this informational letter here (.pdf will open in a new window).
