Background

The young women of Nazareth Academy High School have been performing for the school community since its inception. For more than 75 years, our rich history in music and theater has expanded beyond the walls of Nazareth and into the community. Nazareth's music students have traveled all over performing at prestigious venues from the Vatican (for the Beatification of the Sisters of Holy Family) to the City of Philadelphia's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to the Northeast Rotary Club to the North American Music Festival (capturing numerous awards).

Sadly, the extensive curriculum and numerous performances outgrew their space years ago, often forcing faculty and students to hurdle scheduling conflicts and find make-shift areas for practicing outside of the shared gym-auditorium space. It is the dream of granting Nazareth students the space for all their creative endeavors that drives the efforts of the Performing Arts Center Fund.

Listen to current Nazareth studetns and principal Sister Mary Joan Jacobs discuss the school's magnificent music program and their hopes for the future in this video from Channel 35. (This four-minute video includes a performance of the student Chorale group led by Vocal Director Mr. David Hall.)
