President - Bernadette Breslin, `18
Hey everyone! My name is Bernadette Breslin, and I am the President of the Student Body here at Nazareth Academy. I attended St. Laurentius grade school in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia and decided to continue on with my high school years at Nazareth. To say attending Nazareth was a good decision is an understatement. Through Student Council and my various extracurricular activities, Nazareth has allowed me not only to grow, but to utilize my talents to their full potential. I have been an active member of the Community Service Corps (CSC) at Nazareth since my freshman year and served as Vice President of CSC my junior year. I am involved in both music and athletics at Naz and look forward to running at my track practices and playing at my trumpet lessons. I am an editor of our school yearbook, the Marygold, and am a senior leader for our school retreat, Kairos. Stage crew has been one of the highlights of my high school career as well as performing in London with Nazareth’s music department my sophomore year. I always seem to be at Naz for one thing or another, but I would not want it any other way. I want girls to know that this school is my number one priority and I, along with the rest of the 2017-2018 Leadership team, intend to make this year a memorable one for everyone at Nazareth. Stay tuned!!!
Vice President - Ruby Malak, `18
Hey guys!!! I am Ruby Malak and I am Vice President of Student Council here at Nazareth. I went to Alpha House, Nazareth Academy Grade School, and I live right around the corner. So I have been on this block most of my life! You will not only see me on Naz News every Tuesday morning, but also involved in lots of different clubs and activities. When I’m not at Nazareth (which is really rare), I enjoy hanging out with friends and family and eating Chipotle! After college, I would like to become an Occupational Therapist. I am very excited to take on the 2017-2018 school year with the other 3 Leadership Team members! We have lots of great ideas we cannot wait to share with you all!
Treasurer - Dana Glavin, `18
Hi everyone! My name is Dana Glavin and I am ecstatic to be serving as Student Council Treasurer for the 2017-2018 school year. I went to grade school at Our Lady of Calvary, which is pretty close to Nazareth’s location on Grant Avenue. I’m proud to say that I’m involved in many activities here at Naz. I am a member of Naz-A-Thon’s Executive Board as Chair of Morale, Panda Pal Executive Board, Chorus, Chorale, PACE Club, the Annual Play, NHS, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. I am also a member of the Chemistry Club and an editor of the school’s yearbook, The Marygold. Outside of school, you can catch me lifeguarding at Sesame Place in the summertime, Salsa dancing, and watching plenty of Gossip Girl or Scandal on Netflix. I hope to become a pediatric dermatologist running my own practice after college. I am so excited to see what this year has to come, and I cannot wait to go through my final year at Nazareth with the rest of my Leadership Team girls and all of my classmates!
Secretary - Ellen Annas, `18
Hey everyone! I’m Ellen Annas and I’m the Secretary here at Nazareth. I attended Our Lady of Good Counsel in New Jersey for grade school, then decided to check out the other side of the bridge for high school. I am very involved at Nazareth, and practically live here considering the amount of time I spend here for activities. Outside of Student Council, I am active as a Captain of the Cross Country team, as well as the Indoor and Outdoor Track Teams. This year I’m looking forward to being a part of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, and Quill and Scroll! I am also a Kairos Leader, Mathlete, Chemistry Club member, and editor of The Nazareth. Last (I think) and definitely not least, I am super excited to be the Co-Chair of Family Relations for Naz-A-Thon this year as the dance marathon enters its fourth year! When I can spare a minute, you’ll find me watching Netflix, listening to music, or relaxing with my friends. I can’t wait to play a larger role in the school and make this year a great one with my fellow L Team ladies!
