Jeannette Chobot Curtis '92 | Softball
Jeannette Chobot Curtis is a member of the Nazareth class of 1992, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for achievements in Softball. Jeannette was a premier pitcher of her day, earning both all-star and MVP honors during her tenure. She was an enthusiastic and supportive team player and the Softball team won their first championship during this time.
Jeannette went on to continue her successful pitching career for both Rider and Drexel Universities.
Currently she is the office manager for the Autism Cares Foundation.
Maureen Costello '94 | Basketball
Maureen Costello is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1994, and she was inducted to our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for achievements in Basketball. During her time at Nazareth, she helped carry her team to Nazareth Academy’s first ever AACA Championship for basketball. She was named Player of the Year in Pennsylvania by Gatorade, Philadelphia Inquirer and USA Today. Maureen was also named All-American by Nike and Street & Smith. She was the Northeast Times Catholic Player of the Year as well. Her time at Nazareth was also filled with much academic success as she was the Vice President of the National Honor Society and an officer in Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.
Maureen went on to attend and play basketball at Saint Joseph’s University where she earned a bachelor's degree in Finance. Throughout her basketball career at SJU, she was part of the 1997 Atlantic- 10 Championship team, as well as a member of both the 1995 and 1997 Philadelphia Big 5 Championship teams. She received both Atlantic-10 All-Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 All-Conference multiple times and was named the Philadelphia Big 5 MVP and SJU Women’s Basketball MVP. Maureen has been inducted into the Philadelphia Big 5 and Saint Joseph’s University Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. She earned Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll throughout her time at SJU, and she won the SJU Class of 1950 Award for top graduating female athlete. Maureen was also a part of the Luxembourg League Championship team and coached at George Mason University and St. Joseph’s University.
Maureen currently works for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent and has received the FBI Distinguished Service Award. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, continuing to stay active and fit, reading, and playing the piano.
Mary Beth Snell '96 | Basketball
MaryBeth Snell is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1996, and she was inducted to our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Basketball.
MaryBeth continued her success on the court at Villanova University where she was the team captain, was named to both the Big East All-Academic Team and the Big 5 All-Academic Team, and received the Villanova Student-Athlete Award. MaryBeth was also an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Villanova when they won the 2003 Big East Tournament Championship, and earned both her B.S. in Business Administration and M.S. in Counseling and Human Relations while there.
MaryBeth makes her home in Portland, Oregon and is currently a College Coordinator for the Portland Public School System where she oversees college-related activities at Grant High School. She focuses on providing resources that enable students in under-represented communities to make informed decisions about their post-secondary options. MaryBeth also provides leadership, coordination and strategies for school staff and partners to intentionally engage underrepresented, Special Education, ESL, low-income, and first-generation college students and their families.
Mary Beth enjoys running, yoga and watching her son play travel soccer and baseball.
Shannon McDade Bretz '97 | Basketball
Shannon McDade Bretz is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1997, and she is being inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for achievements in Basketball. During her time at Nazareth, the basketball team won three District 1 Class AAA titles, two AACA Championships and Philadelphia Inquirer’s All-Southeastern PA team twice. Shannon received three AACA First Team selections, AACA MVP, Fourth Team All-State, Northeast Times and New Gleaner Catholic Girls Basketball Player of the Year, as well as Street and Smith Honorable Mention All-American.
Shannon went on to play at LaSalle University where she was a 3-year starter, Senior Co-captain, 1st all-time in field goal % (54.3%), 13th all-time in career scoring (1298 points), 2nd all-time in offensive rebounds (285), and 10th in blocks (65). She was named to the A-10 All-Conference Third Team and Big 5 All Second Team.
For one year after graduation, Shannon played semi-professional basketball for the Tolka Rovers in Dublin, Ireland.
Shannon received her bachelor’s in Secondary Education from LaSalle, a master’s in Philosophy in Medieval History from Trinity College in Ireland, a master’s in School Administration from Rowan University and her Doctorate of Education from Rutgers University. She is currently Assistant Principal at Cherokee High School where she supervises the World Languages and Counseling Departments as well as assists in building management.
Shannon enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Kellianne Toland Kaput '97 | Soccer
Kellianne Toland Kaput is a member of Nazareth Class of 1997, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Soccer. During her time in high school, Kellianne played for the EPYSA State Team and the Region I U-14, U-16, U-17 and U-19 Teams. She was a four-time All-Area and All-League Selection as well as a member of the U-16 Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup Champion Team.
Kellianne continued her soccer career at the University of Pennsylvania where she was a four-time All-Ivy League honors (the first Quaker in history to be named a First-Team Selection), three-time NSCAA All-MidAtlantic Selection, NSCAA All-Freshman Team, Soccer America Team of the Week Selection, multiple Ivy League Team of the Week honors and the 2000 Team Captain. She helped Penn secure its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999, led the Ivy League in total points in the 1999 season, 3rd in school history for total career assists (22), 4th in school history in total career points (60), and 8th in school history for total career goals (19).
Kellianne was also a guest player for the Philadelphia Charge in 2001. She shared her passion as a Varsity Girls Assistant Coach from 2010 to 2020 at Germantown Academy where she is currently the Director of Donor and Campaign Relations, managing all aspects of the Academy’s Capital Campaign and managing the stewardship of all Academy donors.
Kellianne enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, coaching her son’s athletic teams, and sitting on the beach in Ocean City.
Darci Borski '98 | Soccer
Darci Borski is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1998, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Soccer.. During her time at Nazareth, Darci was named a four-time Catholic Academies MVP; she scored 100 goals during her career at Nazareth, and was named an All-American twice.
Darci continued her soccer career at the University of Virginia on a full athletic scholarship, where she received All-State Selection, All-ACC Selection and was their leading scorer in 2001.
Darci was then drafted as the #20 pick in the WUSA draft and played professional soccer for the Philadelphia Charge and the Asker Football Club. She has also shared her passion and skill as a high school coach. First, at Germantown Academy where she was named Times Herald Coach of the Year and the Southeastern PA Coaches Association High School Coach of the year. Darci led the team to four undefeated Championships, and they were named the Philadelphia Inquirer Team of the Year. She next coached at Penn Charter High School and led their team to four Inter-Ac Championships, including the first in the school’s history, and they were three-time PAISSA State Champs.
In addition to a Communications degree from the University of Virginia, Darci also earned a Masters in Elementary Education from Chestnut Hill College. Darci also enjoys photography and she is currently a teacher at the Maritime Charter School for grades K through 8.
Brigid Sullivan Kelley '98 | Soccer
Brigid Sullivan Kelley is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1998, and she was inducted to our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Soccer. While at Nazareth, Brigid was a four-year starter on the soccer team, a four-year AACA Selection, AACA Champions her junior and senior years, and co-captain her senior year. She was also a member of the Basketball and Track teams and the National Honor Society.
Brigid continued playing soccer at Seton Hall University where she was a four-year starter, co-captain for three years, named to the Big East Rookie Team, three-time Big East Player of the Week, Academic All-American and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Brigid was also chosen for the Olympic Development Program in the Eastern PA Youth Soccer Association for 6 years.
Brigid continued at Seton Hall as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach from 2002 to 2007, and was inducted into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in 2017. She is currently a Division II women’s Soccer Coach at Chestnut Hill College, and also coaches two local youth girls’ teams.
Brigid enjoys sharing her passion through coaching and spending time at the shore with her family.
Amy Snell Murphy '98 | Basketball
Amy Snell Murphy is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1998, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Basketball. . During her time at Nazareth, Amy was named the Philadelphia News Gleaner Female Athlete of the Year in 1998, the Northeast Times Female Athlete of the Year in 1998, and the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Team in 1996, 97, and 98. She was also named in the AACA Team Basketball Selection in 1996, 97 and, 98 as well as the AACA Team Field Hockey Selection in 1998. While Amy attended Nazareth, the Basketball Team was AACA League Champs, PIAA 3A District Campions in 1995, 96 and 97, PIAA 3A District Finalist in 1998, PIAA 3A State Semifinalist in 1995 and PIAA State Quarterfinalist in 1996, 97 and 98.
Amy continued her Basketball career at Saint Joseph’s University where they were Atlantic-10 Conference Champions, made the Final 32 in the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and 2000, and played in the NIT Tournament in 2002. In 2002, while playing on the team, Amy was recognized as a SJU Female Scholar-Athlete and was named to the Atlantic-10 Academic Team and the Big 5 Academic Team. She made the Dean’s list every semester from 1998-2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
In addition to her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education, Amy earned a Master’s in Education and Secondary Mathematics Certification from Gwynedd Mercy University. Currently, she is the Math Department Chair at Welsh Valley Middle School in the Lower Merion School District and specializes in student math placement, math support, and math enrichment. She loves working with middle school students every day.
Amy has coached basketball from youth through college since graduating from SJU and spends most of her free time now watching her two daughters compete on the soccer field and the basketball court.
Beth Rocks-Terebesi '98 | Track
Beth Rocks-Terebesi is a member of the Nazareth Class of 1998, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Track.
Beth continued her career at the University of Pittsburgh, where they were Big East Champs and ECAC Champs, and she was a Division 1 Honorable Mention All-American.
With a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Administration, Beth is a Senior Manager for Kearney & Company, where she is in Program Systems Implementation - Secretary of the Air Force – for Financial Management. Beth received the ASMC (Association of Military Comptrollers) Team Award for Budgetary System Implementation in 2017 and 2019.
Beth enjoys vacationing, watching her three children play sports and spending time with family.
Giannina Cipolloni '08 | Softball
Giannina Cipolloni is a member of the Nazareth Class of 2008, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Softball. During her time at Nazareth, she was a two-time Softball MVP and earned the Stolen Base record and the Runs Scored record. The team was two-time AACA Champions.
Giannina continued her success while playing Softball at the University of Virginia where she was named a two-time All-Region Second Team, earned the Single Season Stolen Base Record with 32, earned the Career Stolen Base Record with 89, earned the Sacrifice Fly Record, and was top ten in Walks, Extra Base Hits, Triples, Games Started and Outfield Assists. She then played one year professionally for the NY/NJ Comets in the National Pro Fastpitch League.
While earning her bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Virginia, Giannina made the Athletic Honor Roll 3 times and went on to obtain her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Holy Family University. Giannina shared her talents while coaching 2 Travel Softball Teams that went on to win Championships at Nationals in 2012 and 2014.
Currently, Giannina is the owner of NeuroNinja at Newtown Sport Psychology working as a licensed professional counselor and mental performance coach where she counsels and coached clients to resolve personal, social, and psychological difficulties both in their sport and in life.
She enjoys yoga, Orange Theory, playing guitar, karaoke and attending concerts.
Meghan Lutz '08 | Cross Country & Track
Meghan Lutz is a member of the Nazareth Class of 2008, and she was inducted to our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Cross Country and Track. During her time at Nazareth, Meghan earned 14 Varsity Letters from Cross Country, Indoor Track, Track & Field and Swimming. Her many accomplishments include the 2007 AACA Cross Country Champion with a meet and school record, District Qualifier in 2005 and 2007, State medalist, 5th place, in 2007, Indoor Track state qualifier in 2007 and 2008, State Medalist, 4th place, in 2007, and 3rd place in 2008. Meghan made the outdoor Track & Field District Qualifiers all 4 years at Nazareth and placed 6th in the 2008 Penn Relays with a school record. She was a State Medalist, 6th place in 2007, First place in Districts and State Champion for the 3200 meter in 2008, breaking a school record. Meghan was also captain of the Nazareth Swim Team her senior year.
In February of her senior year, Meghan signed with LaSalle University to continue her Cross Country and Track & Field career. She made the NCAA East Regional Qualifier and was named an Academic All-American in 2010 and 2012. She placed second in the Atlantic-10 5,000 meter in 2010. Meghan was a member of the 2010 Atlantic-10 Cross Country Championship Team and was named Atlantic-10 All-Conference in 2011.
Since LaSalle, Meghan has competed in the Broad Street Run the last 7 years, finished 3rd in the Via Marathon in 2016 and completed in the Boston Marathon in 2017 with a time of 3 hours and 5 minutes. She also coached the William Tennent High School Girls’ Cross Country and Track & Field Team from 2014-2017. In addition to running, Meghan enjoys cycling and crocheting.
With a bachelor’s in Elementary/Special Education from LaSalle and a Master’s in Education, Meghan is currently a Special Education Teacher in the Centennial School District, providing learning support and life skills to her high school students.
Erica Cipolloni '10 | SoftballÂ
Erica Cipolloni is a member of the Nazareth Class of 2010, and she was inducted into our Hall of Fame Class of 2020 for her achievements in Softball. During her time at Nazareth, Erica and the Naz softball team were named 4-time CAL Champions, 2-time District Champions, and four-time AACA Champions. In 2010, Erica was named Female Athlete of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer and was selected as 1 of 40 participants in the country for the USA Junior Olympic softball team pool. She then received a full athletic scholarship to attend and play softball at the University of Virginia where she earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology.
Erica currently is the owner, Director of Softball Operations, and head Coach at EC Elite Softball at the Coliseum Sports Complex. Through her work, she is able to inspire, challenge and grow aspiring softball players to an elite level that supports them in their college recruitment process. She tries to instill soft skills and qualities that translate on and off the field, many of which were encouraged at Nazareth – work ethic, personal and team accountability, communication, time management and mental toughness.
In her free time, Erica enjoys trying different fitness studios, salsa dancing, organizing and staging homes, traveling and pickleball.
Bob Keating | Softball
For close to 2 decades, Bob Keating was a fixture in the Nazareth Athletic department and softball program. Bob was the head softball coach from 1998-2013, the most successful time period in school history. Hundreds of Nazareth softball players have been impacted by his dynamic coaching style and passion for the game. During his tenure, Coach Keating won 11 AACA championships, seven of them consecutive from 2007-2013, three District One Championships, and had five PIAA State Tournament appearances. With 318 total wins, Coach Keating was named Coach of the Year in 1999, 2004, and 2009. In addition to all of the success on the field, one of the most impressive feats of Coach Keating’s career is the positive culture and winning attitude that he encouraged in his players. His players embraced his theme of “Tradition Never Graduates”, a mantra placed on the back of many of his team’s shirts, reiterating the strong tradition, pride, and winning attitude that Coach Keating instilled in and expected from all his players.
