University of Pennsylvania GEARS Day
On Monday January 20th, GEARS Day will be held at the University of Pennsylvania. GEARS Day is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE). SWE is a
national non-profit organization that aims to advocate and increase opportunities for women in engineering and technology fields.
GEARS Day is a day-long, no-cost camp intended to educate high school girls about engineering professions. The event is on Penn’s campus. Attendees will participate in hands-on workshops focusing on various engineering disciplines including bioengineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science. They will also get a chance to hear from and speak with engineering professors and college students.

Gannon University HACKATHON
Gannon University welcomes you to participate in our Hackathon series of online to on-site cybersecurity challenges. These events give participants experience in designing a secure a machine, as well as integrating solutions to protect systems from the sort of attacks found in the real world. The competition involves multiple categories of problems, each of which contains a variety of questions of different point values and difficulties.
Registration below is for the virtual Hackathon events. You may only register and participate in one of the two events.
Participation in the virtual events will serve as a gateway for qualifying finishers to be invited to compete in an on-campus Hackathon on February 16. Competitors will have the chance to win prizes* including
Grand prize of one full-tuition scholarship to Gannon University for high school seniors.
$1,500 scholarship increase to existing Admissions Merit Award for high school seniors.
One prize of FREE admission and multiple prizes of discounted admission to a summer camp session featuring iOT, cyber systems and technology for high school juniors.
Who: Competitors must be current juniors and seniors in high school.
First time competing? No problem! This competition is designed for students of all cybersecurity skill levels. Competitors will receive instructions at the start of the Hackathon to guide you through challenges of varying difficulty. Students will be given clues to solve tasks tailored to both first-time gamers and experienced competitors.

*Prizes: High school juniors are eligible to win only the prizes toward admission to the Gannon summer camp. Only one participant will receive a full-tuition scholarship. All seniors who are invited to the on-campus Hackathon and choose to participate in the competition will have their Admissions Merit award increased by $1,500. PFEW: Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2020
What is it?: A week-long opportunity to develop critical leadership skills, communication skills, and teamwork skills. This is a unique and challenging program that provides a hands-on opportunity to learn about the free enterprise system. It opens doors for high school sophomores and juniors to learn what it takes to succeed in the fast paced world of free enterprise.

Business Not As Usual! at York College of Pennsylvania
Program Dates: June 14-22, 2020
Program: Students will participate in fully-integrated workshops in diverse disciplines of management, visit economic industry zones and gain cross-cultural experiences.
Program Costs: $1,900 per residential participant (PA Residents: $400 scholarships available); $1,000 for day participants (non-residential). From arrival through departure, this amount covers on-campus housing, meals, transportation, insurance, workshops and all additional activities, including trips to Washington D.C. and Hershey Park.
