At Nazareth, girls have many opportunities to discover themselves as leaders. Through our many clubs, activities, and athletic teams our girls are empowered to make decisions, plan events, and work collaboratively with their teachers and fellow classmates in an effort to advance the mission of Nazareth.

2023 - 24 Student Leadership Team

President - Grace Reteneller '24

Hi everyone! My name is Grace Reteneller, and I am the Student Body President for the 2023-2024 school year! Before coming to Nazareth, I attended St. Christopher’s School in Philadelphia, PA. Ever since I walked up the Chapel steps, I knew I wanted to become a part of Nazareth’s welcoming community. Nazareth has given me numerous opportunities to be a leader. Other than being on Student Council for the past three years, I am also on the Varsity soccer team, a Presidential Ambassador, a Pandas Stand Up Club Leader, a Junior Kairos Leader, member of the National Honor Society, and a 2-year Naz-A-Thon Executive. Being able to be involved in these various activities has allowed me to grow as a leader while being with some of my best friends. I am really looking forward to this year and working with my fellow classmates on the L-Team. We are going to make it an unforgettable senior year. I cannot wait to keep making Nazareth a welcoming place for every panda that steps in, so that they love their school a million just like I do!

Vice President - Annaliese Steiner '24

Hi everyone! My name is Annaliese Steiner, and I am the Student Council Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year. I graduated from Nazareth Academy Grade school in 2020, so going to the high school seemed like an obvious choice. Being surrounded by all these amazing girls for the past 12 years makes Nazareth the family it truly is. You might think the “sisterhood” is just a saying, but being at Nazareth makes it feel real. Nazareth gives me the opportunity to be involved in athletics as well as challenging me in my academics. At Nazareth, I play soccer, I am in National Honors Society, Naz-A-Thon, Presidential Ambassador, Science Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Panda Stand Up, and Athletes Helping Athletes. Last year, I was heavily involved with Naz-A-Thon as the Junior executive of Finance. I also was the Parliamentarian of National Honors Society. Nazareth also has events that allow me to show my school spirit such as when I won the Little Miss Freshman Pageant during Freshman Year! Nazareth has provided me with so many opportunities and challenges to grow in my character, and I am more than excited to give back as the new vice president. I am forever grateful for Nazareth, and, of course, I love my school a million. I’m so proud of each of us and can’t wait to see what this upcoming school year brings!

Secretary - Nell Duesler '24

Hi everyone! My name is Aniela Duesler, but around Naz, I’m Nell! I am so excited to serve my classmates as the 2023-2024 Leadership Team Secretary. I have always known that NAHS would be the place for me ever since my attendance at Nazareth Academy Grade School and Alpha House. Being a third generation Panda and one of nine of my family members to attend Nazareth, I am filled with school spirit. Around the Naz halls, you could see me performing in five music ensembles, on stage in the school musicals, on Naz News every morning as the Head Anchor, or creating the school yearbook as the Head Senior Editor. Nazareth has allowed me to grow in my diverse interests and additionally provided numerous opportunities to find new passions of mine such as media production, poetry, and drumming! Nazareth is truly my second home filled with love, learning, and sisterhood. I have made lifelong friends, grown meaningful connections with many teachers, and learned countless academic, social, and spiritual lessons which I will take with me for the rest of my life! I am so grateful to attend this school, but I am
especially grateful to serve on L-Team with some of my closest friends.

Student Leadership Organizations

The leadership clubs are a snapshot of the many clubs and activities that Nazareth Academy High School has to offer. These officers of these clubs are recognized as student leaders throughout our school community. The moderators and student leaders of these clubs promote student learning, enhance personal growth, and help students realize their full potential as part of their preparation for leading a satisfying and productive life. At Nazareth Academy High School our girls are more than just students.

Leadership Team and Student Council

The function of the Student Council is to represent student views to the faculty and administration and vice-versa. To accomplish this, members concern themselves with the student concerns, help to develop and maintain school spirit by providing activities and encouraging participation in them, and assist in maintaining discipline throughout the school. Student Council members and officers are elected from the senior, junior and sophomore classes. Homeroom presidents may be called in as ex-officio members of Council. Elected late in the first semester, 12 freshmen become associates and serve as councilors for the second semester.

They are the “face” of Nazareth and the school representation inside and outside of the campus. Their sense of loyalty, responsibility and duty, along with spiritedness and creativity adds to our school atmosphere and makes Nazareth Academy High School a welcoming home for all.

National Honor Society

Since 1950, Nazareth Academy High School has been a chartered member of the National Honor Society. As a chartered affiliate of the organization, Nazareth’s Lumen Christi Chapter operates strictly according to guidelines established by the national constitutions. The object of the National Honor Society, on both the national and local levels, is to encourage students to work for high standards of character, service, leadership, and scholarship.

Admission to the National Honor Society should not be looked upon as a reward for what a given student has done. Rather, it should be looked upon as acknowledgment of the fact that the student subscribes to National Honor Society values and acts accordingly. Thus, after induction, each National Honor Society member continues to practice the four qualities which formed the basis for her election. Failure to maintain National Honor Society standards constitute grounds for dismissal from the society.

Community Service Corp

Nazareth Academy High School’s Community Service Corp (CSC) provides students with the opportunity to live out the words expressed by His Holiness, John Paul II, “Enjoy the privilege of your youth: the right to be dynamic, creative and spontaneous, the right to be full of hope and joy, and above all, the chance to give of yourself to others in generous joyful service.”

For members of the Community Service Corp, service is a year round experience that includes:
- Collecting school supplies for area grade schools
- Gathering winter clothing and food for local shelters
- Serving holiday meals to older adults at senior centers
- Mentoring children in their schools and communities

Other major service projects include Operation Santa Claus, the Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the Bread Basketball program which raises over eight tons of canned vegetables, beverages, cereals, baby supplies, toiletries, and more for those in need.
