Women of Compassion

At NAHS, we believe that our community recognizes and responds to the needs of the human family, both locally and globally. We enhance this belief through formal religious instruction and reinforce it through extra- curricular activities.

As a ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, students at Nazareth Academy High School are required to participate in our Christian Service program. The total education of a young woman reaches beyond the classroom and into the community. Nazareth Academy High School’s reputation for service is legendary. Underclassmen are mandated to perform 20 hours a year of Christian service, while seniors a charged with performing 30 hours. However, these requirements are easily achieved as Nazareth students average over 15,000 hours of Christian service every school year.

Community Service Corp

Community Service Corp

For members of the Community Service Corp, service is a year round experience that includes:
- Collecting school supplies for area grade schools
- Gathering winter clothing and food for local shelters
- Serving holiday meals to older adults at senior centers
- Mentoring children in their schools and communities

Other major service projects include Operation Santa Claus, the Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the Bread Basketball program which raises over eight tons of canned vegetables, beverages, cereals, baby supplies, toiletries, and more for those in need.

St. Lucy's Day

St. Lucy's Day

Each year, Nazareth Academy High School welcomes students from St. Lucy Day School for Children with Visual Impairment and Archbishop Ryan School for the Deaf for a day of learning and fun. In 2018, over 60 Nazareth girls volunteered their time to assist 40 students from St. Lucy's and Archbishop Ryan for an entire school day.

St. Lucy's Day include science projects, gym activities, snacks in the Student Dining Room, music performances, story time, and even a rocket launch by our Rocketry Club for the children of the visiting schools.

Smiles and love is shared throughout the day by both our girls and the children of the visiting schools. It is an enriching day that gives our girls the opportunity to share their passion and talents with the children of St. Lucy Day School for children with Visual Impairment and Archbishop Ryan School for the Deaf.

Naz-A-Thon

Naz-A-Thon

Naz-A-Thon is a dance marathon that transpires on the campus of Nazareth Academy High School. The dance marathon, which takes place in November each year, is the culmination of a year-long fundraising campaign done by the students of Nazareth Academy High School in which all monies raised are donated to the children's miracle network for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The 12 hour dance marathon boasts a full day of events for students, faculty, parents, grandparents, alumnae, and community members. In four years the students of Nazareth Academy High School have raised over $500,000 for the children's miracle network.

Other Forms of Christian Service

Student service must be performed through a charitable organization such as a parish, school, community group, or social service agency. It is the responsibility of the student under the direction of her parents/guardians, to find service that is worthwhile. Theology teachers will distribute necessary forms at the beginning of the assigned semester. Before beginning a service assignment, the student should obtain the approval of the Theology teacher.
